World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increase when it is upgraded. This value is the total of all of its leveled up advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the number of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

Item level is a widely used measurement of power and can be seen on all tooltips for items. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item can help players evaluate the strength of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a measure of the damage and quality. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when looking at a vendor's inventory.

On PC, you are able to check the level of the item by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the complete item description, including its value. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories about the method by which the level of an item is calculated. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated using a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats actually are. It is based on the fact that different benefits are valued differently and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is typically close to Blizzard's actual level of the item upgrader kit.

However, this is not the only factor which affects an item's ilvl, since the level of the area the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrader." The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn increased by the player's skill.

Upgrades to an item may increase its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey for instance, will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.

Another method to alter the stats of an item is through affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes are used to give items additional damage or special abilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to differentiate them by adding a name.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with specific stats or reroll affixes. The possible stat ranges of an item are based on the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within that range, unless it is an exclusive item or a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items and the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly beneficial in the early game, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. These can also be increased by using anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of the item up to 140.

Moreover there are certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be used to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be bought from the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are some cash shop items that allow players to boost their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..

The luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Each item has an average success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects may be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
