How a Jaguar Smart Key Works

Jaguar smart key enables you to lock and unlock the vehicle from afar. But, as with all electronic devices, it requires electricity - supplied by batteries.

Your car could display an increase in the range of signals if your Smart Key battery begins to run out. The message center may also display an alert "SMART-KEY BATTERY LACKS".

Keyless Entry

This feature allows you to enter your Jaguar without having to dig through your pockets or purse. The system uses proximity sensor to detect the Jaguar Smart Key, which will automatically open your XE. Grab any door handle and the vehicle will open and arm itself when you are approaching. After you leave your vehicle, you can lock it by pressing the door handle or by pressing the key fob.

You can also use the Powered Gesture trunk lid on your Jaguar XE. This lets you open the trunk using the swipe of your hand, meaning you can carry bags, groceries or sporting equipment, without having to reach into your purse or wallet to find the key. This is a fantastic feature for those who haul gear around Gilbert constantly and don't wish to use their hands.

Hold the Activity Key against your trunk when you're ready to close it. The hazard light will flash when it's connected.

Unlike other smart keys, the Jaguar Smart Key's batteries don't require replacement. However, you may observe that the range of the device starts to diminish, and it will not respond to commands immediately. Replace the battery as soon you notice this.

Panic Alarm

If your car's alarm is sounding at the top of its volume, you can swiftly shut it off with your Jaguar Smart Key. The panic button is an easy function that can be beneficial in certain circumstances.

Press the Smart Key button with a symbol of a headlamp three times in a span of three seconds to activate panic mode. It will turn on the vehicle's lights for a duration of 25 seconds and then sound the alarm five times in order to dissuade an offender. After pressing the button, the panic alarm is removed.

You can also use the Jaguar Activity Key without the Smart Key inside to lock and unlock the vehicle. Simply slip the Activity Key onto your wrist, shut the doors, turn off your engine, then hold the Activity Key up against the Jaguar emblem on your tailgate. The vehicle will be locked and the warning lights on your vehicle will flash to indicate that it's secure.
