Which Lightweight Double Pushchair Should You Buy?

It's easy to move around with a lightweight double pushchair, especially if you have kids of different age groups. They're generally easy to fold, steer, and carry up and down stairs.

Side-by-side lightweight double pushchairs aren't 100% foolproof, howeverIf your children are the same age or stage, they might still argue over who gets to ride in which seat. And if they're taller than each other it could be that a tandem design might be better for them as it will allow them to face each other.

Tandem

While side-by-side models may be better suited for siblings with similar ages, tandem lightweight double pushchairs offer their own perks. They can accommodate a larger car seat, and some have seats that can be reversible or a carrycot that is located in the middle. They are generally more spacious and easy to access and exit from the baskets, though they are usually smaller than those on single buggies. Many have larger canopies as well as peekaboo windows, and even padded leg cushions.

Tandem lightweight double pushchairs will generally make more precise turns than side-byside models, however, they can be more difficult to drive over bumps and uneven surfaces. They are also a little slower to speed up and can be heavier to move, which could put strain on your back.

A convertible double buggy is a different alternative. It's initially a single, but you can add adapters to convert it into a double. It can have an additional seat or carrycot in front or children can sit side-by-side. Some of them also offer the option to add buggy boards, which can help an older child keep up with a younger sibling.

These strollers aren't easy to maneuver in supermarkets with narrow aisles and they might struggle to carry loads. Although it's much easier to turn the stroller on a narrow, curving path, this can be a challenge. Some are also easier to turn than others, like the thule double stroller Urban Glide 2 Double and the Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double, for instance.

Convertible

The great thing about convertible double pushchairs is that they are able to adapt to the changing family requirements.
